Well, good point. Most of the upgrades should go unnoticed. But it does explain why I’ve been semi-absent for a week (sorry about that). But you will see some occasional new treats. Like the artist specials, appearing only on BrentsInBoxes.com, starting with a new song from Sophie Pentecost.
Stuff You Can See
Well, of course there’s the artist specials. They won’t necessarily be common but often enough they’ll be unique–not even on NAR. At least for now. They’ll include a quick bio, in the carefree style of Brents In Boxers, and a song or two you’ve never heard. You’ll love it. I know; I said so.
Next is a little more subtle. I’ve started to follow Planetary Streams’s Blog Talk, hosted by Kim Stilson. It should help me improve quite a bit, so it’ll be to your benefit. Plus, you know, the various little tips they refer me to.
Free Podcasts. More on that as I get the kinks worked out. But the essentials are that you’ll get a 128 Kbit MP3 (see Why MP3s? for details). I’ll see what I can do about 256 Kbit versions.
CommentLuv. Those of you who have their own blogs can now leave links to your most recent blog entry. The system will take care of it automatically, assuming you have an RSS feed. Note that it displays the blog entry that’s most recent at the time you posted the comment. This ensures that the same blog entry isn’t spamed across the web. Rather, links to different parts of your site are spread around. From what I understand this adds credibility with Google. [We're still having trouble with CommentLuv. But I promise I'm working on it.]
Note that I have, and always will, aggressively filter spam, blocking IP addresses if necessary.
Finally, I’ve hooked us into MyBlogLog at the request of two separate reader e-mails. Those of you who use Yahoo’s blog manager to track your blogs should be set. E-mail me (Brent2@BrentsIn. . .) if you have any problems.
Stuff You Can’t See
Password Salting. I’m not totally sure what it means, but I do know it strengthens our password security. Which, of course, isn’t to say that our BIB Member passwords were in any way unsecure before. But it’s that kind of thinking that stops progress. Not something we’re OK with.
Posts should be more regular. We can now set times (say, 2 PM Friday) for posts to go up automatically. That way I can sit down and set the Boxer of the Week and “A Place to Listen” posts whenever I need to and the system takes care of itself. This should prevent late posts.
Stuff I’m Just Mentioning
The current update schedule:
Monday: Brent1’s Musings
Wednesday: Boxer of the Week
Thursday: Brent2’s Musings
Friday: New BIB Episode (A Place to Listen)

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWow I love her voice. She has such a nice alto timber and with the added harmonies and the elegance of being accompanied by piano it just gets straight through to your heart.
I love it.
@Angel
Yeah, she’s amazing. We’ll be doing an artist profile on her in the next week, so be sure to check back!
